- Work in concert with the Engineering Services team using design tools to bridge the gap across different disciplines.
- Ensure the success of the construction teams by aligning all digital files and drawings across different disciplines.
- Participate in cross-functional problem-solving as a key component of daily responsibilities.
- Review drawings from multiple engineers to ensure constructability and analyze digital design files.
- Familiarize yourself with utility-scale solar project designs, including single-line drawings, civil, structural, electrical site plans, DC and AC wiring diagrams, and equipment layout.
- Understand civil and structural engineering design drawings and their design implications.
- Design different parts of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) or Solar PV power plant using 3D modeling software.
- Understand construction applications of solar power plant design including PV string sizing, DC and AC conductor and conduit sizing, and racking/tracker design and powering.
- Have direct experience with solar and battery storage equipment, including solar panels, inverters/transformers, racking systems, and battery systems.
- Review scope of work documents and analyze the design implications of different requirements.
- Own portions of the project lifecycle from design to construction support.
- Provide mentorship and support to junior team members on the Engineering Team.
- Travel across the country to perform site visits and provide technical support to construction teams.
- Support field teams with various technical design requests.
- Work as part of a team and ensure effective documentation and problem resolution.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical field, or related discipline is required - a civil and environmental engineering degree is preferred.
- 0-1 years' experience for Project Engineer and 2 years' experience for Senior Project Engineer in the solar construction industry or direct engineering management on solar construction projects - solar experience is required.
- Knowledge of electrical design, materials, and methods of construction in power systems.
- Proven ability to work across multiple systems and manage design documentation.
- Familiarity with CAD workflows and construction standards.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Knowledge of QGIS or other GIS software is a plus.
- Knowledge of Autodesk Fusion or other 3D Design software is a plus.
- Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) as it relates to utility-scale power plants is a plus.
- Good communication and presentation skills, including the ability to organize and present complex technical information effectively in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Highly organized and able to multitask multiple projects at once.
