Job Description:
The principle challenge of this position is to inspect machine components and complex tooling for CSI’s capping and compression molding equipment for compliance to engineering specifications.
The primary focus of the candidate is to inspect components for capping machines, but they will also provide support for inspection of compression machines/tooling as needed based on the priorities established by CSI’s expediters. The candidate must be able to handle changing priorities and be willing to work flexible schedules when mandated, maintains accountability for the quality of the parts that they inspect and accept, and provide troubleshooting support to the Capping Machine and Compression Machine Build groups when non-conforming parts are found in the field. The candidate will be required to perform all other related tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.
The candidate will serve our customers. The ability to work with minimal supervision and a flexible schedule is critical. The candidate will comply with CSI’s safety policies, procedures and standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The candidate must understand / be able to:
- Read engineering drawings and specifications including GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerances)
- Set up devices and procedures for inspection of tooling and machine components
- Use high precision gauges and instrumentation to evaluate features with very tight tolerances, record/document all required inspection data and share data with suppliers as required, involve tooling design/engineering when fitness for use decisions need to be made.
- The candidate prepares and submits corrective action reports to suppliers when non-conforming tooling/machine parts are identified, works closely with suppliers to improve data correlation, minimize inspection data discrepancies and resolve those as required.
- The candidate reviews and analyzes inspection data submitted by suppliers and evaluates conformance to specification as well as determines features that may be at risk for non-conformance – communicates findings with supervisor and supplier, monitors parts count to insure there aren’t any parts lost in the inspection area.
- The candidate is responsible for ensuring all transactions of all parts that she/he inspects are made correctly, works with their supervisor and other inspectors to continuously improve inspection methods and reduce inspection times for critical parts, and may instruct less experienced inspection people in proper inspection procedures.
- The candidate may be required to travel to suppliers’ locations to compare inspection methods or equipment when resolving correlation issues.
- This position requires at different times standing, bending, walking, twisting, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, crawling and balancing.
- Requires lifting and carrying of parts at different intervals in an 8 hour day.
- Requires the need to climb ladders and stairs.
- Need the ability to use power tools, manufacturing equipment, and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Need to be able to have fine manipulation skills.
- Need to have regular and reliable attendance and punctuality.
- The ability to engage in shift work.
- Need to be able to travel domestically (up to 20% of the time).

Qualifications:
Educational and Other Skill Requirements:
This position requires attention to details, ability to follow detailed inspection and data collection procedures, and utilize measuring instruments and equipment. The technician must have set-up experience with complicated gages and equipment used to inspect high precision parts, and must have technical knowledge of machining operations.
- These skills would typically be obtained by a study in a technical/trade school or multi-craft skilled trade’s apprenticeship.
- The position also requires excellent human relations and communications skills to deal with customers in stressful situations.
- A minimum of three year's experience in the inspection field utilizing high precision measuring equipment is required.
- The ability to communicate effectively with customer personnel is essential.
- Must be team oriented.
- Computer literacy in documentation, electronic troubleshooting guides and reference material is necessary in addition to communication skills (written, verbal, listening), which are vital.
- The self-directed work team environment will require that the individual have excellent teaming skills, have good judgment, and be capable of learning new tools and techniques, and the ability to operate in a fluid and ambiguous situation.
- Ability to adapt work practices, priorities, or procedures in response to changing condition or multiple work demands.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
Candidate reports to the Machinery Quality and Project Engineer. This individual must stay current with changes and innovations delivered through the CSI Machine Build organization and ensure that related process training is made available in a timely fashion
Environmental Conditions: This individual works with all areas of closure manufacturing throughout CSI global operations and may be required to make frequent field visits to CSI plants worldwide. Conditions may include manufacturing facilities still under construction, foreign electrical and mechanical systems and languages being spoken. Must learn quickly to adapt and interface with a variety of cultures, climates, and situations.
