Job Description:
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Shift Technician is required to respond to all site equipment problems. This position will report to the Maintenance Supervisor. This position must troubleshoot and perform basic and advanced maintenance to production equipment, complete root cause investigations for complaints, interpret statistical data, and lead the repair efforts. The candidate will be responsible for compiling and analyzing data to assist in determining appropriate countermeasures, as well as assist the team members in the development of standardized work. The candidate will work within the stated principles of OPEX and help drive maintenance towards continuous improvement efforts through TPM.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- This position must troubleshoot and perform basic and advanced maintenance to production equipment, complete root cause investigations for complaints, interpret statistical data, and lead the repair efforts.
- The candidate will be responsible for compiling and analyzing data to assist in determining appropriate countermeasures, as well as assist the team members in the development of standardized work.
- The candidate will work within the stated principles of OPEX and help drive maintenance towards continuous improvement efforts through TPM.
- Ensure the safe, high quality equipment is maintained on the production floor at all times.
- Provide technical expertise for the purpose of repairing equipment and assist other plant personnel in repair efforts.
- This position is required to lead by example. “Be the Player and Coach” in all areas: procedures, policies, motivation, attitude, and our ever changing environment.
- Drive charting and reduction of breakdown losses, setup, and adjustment losses; speed reduction losses and minor stoppages.
- Drive reliability improvements.
- Drive acceptance and implementation of technological improvements within maintenance and production.
- Maintain a consistency of purpose for customer satisfaction.
- Assist with training and skill development in maintenance and production, with focus on single point lessons
- Keep accurate equipment analysis records.
- Maintain and operate closure production equipment, including soliciting required assistance.
- Organize work in progress and assist in allocating the necessary resources to address maintenance issues.
- Perform preventative breakdown maintenance to production equipment as required.
- Assemble spare tooling parts as needed.
- Monitor work using quantitative and qualitative standards.
- Take a leadership role in troubleshooting production and facilities equipment utilizing the available resources as needed.
- Work with members of Line team(s) as needed and communicate ideas to improve the site’s performance.
- Accept ownership of production and maintenance performance.
- Perform hand tools checks to insure all tools are accounted for.
- Comply with safety standards. Perform daily safety audits of maintenance work practices, the products of maintenance work, and equipment and facilities condition.
- Maintain housekeeping (audit standards)
- Perform all other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:Educational and Other Skills Requirements:
- Must have a high school diploma or GED certificate.
- Strong arithmetic and reading skills.
- Five to seven years in a maintenance related role with experience in mechanical maintenance (electrical experience and / or training desired).
- Formal training in Mechanical Maintenance is required. This formal training can be either a minimum two year degree from an accredited technical training institute, an apprenticeship training program, or demonstrated work in a strong mechanical role.
- Exposure to machines, processes, and duties in a school or work environment is necessary to demonstrate an increasing skill level and a willingness to accept responsibility.
- Must demonstrate responsibility regarding issues of safety and housekeeping.
- Must have mechanical aptitude to learn the technical processes of the closure production department and its related machinery, as well as troubleshoot problems and develop and perform solutions.
- Must be flexible and willing to adjust to an unpredictable schedule, particularly break periods, overtime, and training schedules.
- Must lead by example in all areas: procedures, policies, motivation, attitude, and in our ever-changing environment.
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to lead and inspire others.
- Must be willing to accept the responsibilities and demands of meeting production goals at a high degree of standards of quality, and while facilitating the activities of the Maintenance team members.
- Must be flexible and supportive of personnel changes which are in the best interest of CSI.
- Must demonstrate good eye/hand coordination; perception to inspect finished work and verify acceptability of product.
- Must have the ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Must be able to communicate with engineers and technical personnel on a technical level.
- Must have a basic understanding of the principals of mechanics and electricity as related to the equipment of CSI.
- Must actively teach, train, and coach other production team members.
- Must be able to mentor others in troubleshooting techniques.
- Must have the ability to problem solve at the line and in a team environment.
- Must demonstrate good understanding of the principles of OPEX / TPM.
- Must have a working knowledge of computer skills including NFI, Excel, Word, and E-mail.
Work Schedule: 12-hour shifts-rotate from days to nights on a monthly basis- on 4 days off 4 days.
Work Shift: 12-hour shift, with occasional voluntary or mandatory overtime
