JOB TITLE: Varsity Boys Bowling Coach

Essential Duties and responsibilities

• Analyze, demonstrate, and explain basic fundamentals and skills of bowling.
• Instruct student-athletes in the safety practices associated with bowling.
• Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
• Understand and implement all appropriate rules and regulations according to MHSAA guidelines.
• Work with administrators and faculty to plan and implement instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student-athletes.
• Maintain proper control and discipline in a positive manner by establishing good, wholesome rapport through healthy, professional relationships among students involved in athletic programs.
• Monitor and enforce student-athlete eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
• Establish and maintain open communication with parents/guardians, students, other coaches, administrators, and faculty.
• Instruct student-athletes in the proper care and use of materials and equipment.
• Accompany and supervise student-athletes during athletic competitions in bowling during athletic contests.
• Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with the student handbook.
• Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Pass a criminal background check (requires fingerprinting with local law enforcement).
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience coaching bowling athletes at the High School level.
• Experience with the MHSAA Philosophy of Educational Athletics
• Previous experience in a school setting
• Teacher certification
