JOB TITLE: Elementary Social Worker
WORK YEAR: 2026-2027 School Year
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Michigan Social Work license
- Strong Social Work background
- Ability to work with a diverse student population
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience in an education setting
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide social and emotional support to students and families
- Help students establish attendance, academic, or behavior goals
- Liaison to local agencies for students, parents, and families
- Collaborates with principals, teachers, and other school personnel to improve use of existing school programs and procedures related to the education, social and emotional needs of children
- Provides assistance to teachers and principals regarding students with adjustment problems and assists in the development of student behavior management plans
- Maintains appropriate confidential records on each student referred
- Bill and log Medicaid
REPORTS TO: Elementary Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and benefits per master contract based on experience and qualifications. Please see the current contract here.
EVALUATION: Evaluated annually using the district-adopted evaluation tool, by a building administrator.
