About the Company



Our client, a clinical-stage biotechnology company advancing a pipeline of novel therapeutics aimed at halting and reversing fibrotic disease, is seeking an Associate Director/Director of Program Management to help expand its Program Management function. This role offers the opportunity to own program execution from preclinical development through IND filing and into early clinical-stage trials, partnering closely with a talented scientific team and external collaborators. Title will be commensurate with experience. This position reports to the Head of Program Management and is hybrid onsite, 2 to 3 days per week in the greater Boston area.



About the Role



This is a direct hire opportunity. Title and compensation are commensurate with experience:


Preference is for a local candidate who can be onsite 3 days per week in Boston, MA.



Responsibilities



  • Partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to shape program strategy, goals, key decisions, investment priorities, critical path activities, and risk mitigation across the portfolio
  • Build and maintain detailed, integrated program plans, incorporating input from all functional areas, including scenario planning and evaluation of strategic alternatives
  • Lead program team meetings, including agenda development, meeting minutes, action item tracking, and follow-up
  • Facilitate cross-functional planning to align dependencies, schedules, budgets, and delivery commitments across departments and program teams
  • Support budget planning and broader finance operations as needed
  • Proactively identify risks, resource constraints, and potential conflicts that could affect timelines, and partner with the development team to resolve them
  • Maintain clear, continuous communication across the program team so all stakeholders stay informed of activities, issues, and upcoming milestones
  • Develop and implement scalable program management tools, processes, and best practices to support the company's growth



Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, ideally in a life sciences field, with 8 to 10 years of project/program management experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry



Required Skills



  • Demonstrated experience supporting antibody or biotherapeutic programs from early discovery through IND-enabling preclinical work, CMC, clinical trial planning, and regulatory submissions
  • Strong command of modern project management tools and methodologies, with proven ability to manage budgets, resourcing, and complex cross-functional coordination
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong relationship-building instincts
  • A collaborative mindset suited to a small company environment, where flexibility and shared ownership matter
  • Sharp attention to detail and strong documentation and record-keeping habits
  • Comfort adapting plans quickly as priorities and timelines shift



Preferred Skills



  • Advanced degree (MS, PhD, or MBA)
  • PMP certification
