The Medical-Surgical Unit RN Director reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer and plays a vital role on the leadership team. Charge nurses report to this role, and the director collaborates closely with department heads across the hospital. While this is not typically a working director role, the Medical-Surgical Unit RN Director may occasionally jump in to cover shifts if all other coverage options are exhausted.
The Medical-Surgical Unit RN Director oversees the Medical-Surgical and ICU departments, along with the Swing Bed Program. The Med Surg unit operates with 40 FTEs with plans to grow the Swing Bed census. The team is known for its collaborative spirit, strong provider relationships, and a positive, supportive environment that encourages accountability and balance.
As Medical-Surgical Unit RN Director, responsibilities include supporting nursing excellence through mentoring, education, and skill-building.
