Charge nurses report to this role, and the director collaborates closely with department heads across the hospital. While this is not typically a working director role, the Medical-Surgical Unit RN Director may occasionally jump in to cover shifts if all other coverage options are exhausted.
The Medical-Surgical Unit RN Director oversees the Medical-Surgical and ICU departments, along with the Swing Bed Program. The Med Surg unit operates with 40 FTEs with plans to grow the Swing Bed census.
