What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Engineer position at ClientMind Recruiting Inc.?
Clientmind Recruiting is searching for an Electrical Engineer for a rapidly growing technology company. This role will be onsite in Frederick, MD.
This engineer will maintain and improve products, systems, and processes after their initial release, ensuring continued functionality and performance throughout their lifecycle.
Unlike a traditional design or lab-heavy role, this position is less hands-on and more focused on sustainment engineering—diagnosing field or production issues, managing obsolescence, and coordinating technical improvements across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams. The ideal candidate brings an electrical engineering background and enjoys solving problems through data, systems analysis, and collaboration rather than daily bench-level design or prototype work.
This role serves as the bridge between Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to ensure sustained performance of fielded products and support long-term reliability across the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshooting & Problem Solving – Identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues with products or systems during their operational phase; coordinate with Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to drive resolution.
- Root Cause & Corrective Actions – Lead investigations into quality and performance issues, working with internal teams and suppliers to implement corrective and preventive measures.
- Warranty Support – Perform failure analysis of warranty returns and in-process test failures; document systemic root causes and drive long-term corrective actions.
- Lifecycle Management – Plan and manage sustainment activities from initial release through end-of-life, including obsolescence tracking and redesign coordination.
- Performance Optimization – Use data and test results to identify reliability trends and recommend product or process improvements.
- Documentation & Change Control – Maintain production drawings and manage BOM and configuration changes through formal ECO/ECR processes.
- Continuous Improvement – Identify and implement enhancements that improve reliability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
- CAPA & Supplier Collaboration – Lead ECP/ECO initiation, root cause analysis (8D, 5-Whys, Ishikawa), and supplier corrective action follow-up (SCARs).
- Quality & Test Support – Define and maintain Control Plans, FMEAs, and Inspection Plans; support test coverage alignment and measurement accuracy across inspection stations.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship required with an active Secret clearance or eligibility to obtain one.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with equivalent experience.
- 5 years of experience in sustainment, production, or reliability engineering—preferably within defense, aerospace, or other high-reliability electronics environments.
- Proven ability to analyze complex technical issues and coordinate cross-functional solutions without direct bench-level engineering.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills; able to interface effectively across technical and operational teams.
- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and strong organizational skills in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
