System Administrator

Clientmind Recruiting is seeking a System Administrator to support systems administration, networking, and security across a Microsoft-centric environment for a client in the Greenbelt, MD area. This role combines hands-on systems management with end-user support and will play a key part in maintaining a secure, reliable infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Microsoft 365 cloud environments, including Azure, Entra ID, Defender, Endpoint Manager, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
• Manage system administration tasks across Windows and Linux environments, including configuration, maintenance, patching, and troubleshooting.
• Support implementation and management of security controls aligned with frameworks such as NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, and CMMC.
• Oversee networking and network security, including firewalls, VPNs, WiFi, VLANs, and network segmentation.
• Manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Docker, and/or Azure-based virtualization).
• Support backup and disaster recovery systems, monitoring, and incident response processes.
• Provide technical support to internal users and maintain detailed documentation.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong background in system administration and security within regulated or compliance-driven environments.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 administration across the full suite of platforms and services.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, firewalls (pfSense preferred), VPNs (OpenVPN preferred), and segmentation strategies.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies—on-premises and cloud-based.
• Experience applying DISA STIGs or similar hardening standards.
• Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Experience

• DevOps tools such as Git or SVN.
• Android device management and MDM solutions.
• PBX system support.
• Intrusion detection systems, SIEM tools, or SOC workflows.
