Shelter Aide/Housekeeping and Crisis Line Attendant

Job Requirements:

• High School or GED required.
• Overnight, weekend, and evening shifts available, but must be able to work overnight.
• *Because this is an overnight position at a women's shelter, we can only consider female applicants.

Skills Needed:

• Ability to provide non-judgmental support to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault on crisis line and in shelter (training provided)
• Maintain detailed client records
• Perform moderate cleaning and basic food preparation/food service

Job Responsibilities:

A. Support

• Answer crisis line, making appropriate referrals for services needed.
• Provide emotional support to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence by phone and in-shelter
• Respond consistently to program participants in a caring, informative and non-judgmental manner

B. House Responsibilities

• Conduct all cleaning tasks, informing supervisor of supply or maintenance needs
• Respectfully provide coaching and feedback as needed for residents about maintaining their living area
• Prepare and serve evening meals
• Arm the alarm system according to policy and ensure that all safety measures are followed
• Ensure house guidelines are followed by residents
• Accept and store all donations
• Complete all client records and agency statistical forms as assigned
• Other duties assigned by supervisor or Executive Director

Pay: $16.00 per hour

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

• housekeeping: 1 year (Preferred)
