Job Summary
We are seeking an organized and compassionate Domestic Violence Shelter Manager to oversee the operations of our shelter dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by domestic and sexual violence. Staffing Responsibilities
- Supervise shelter aide staff responsible for food preparation, donation processing and cleaning for the shelter program
- Collaborate with supervisor and staff on the training of Shelter Aides
- Ensure continuous 24/7 shelter coverage
- Provide guidance for Shelter Aides to ensure that residents are treated with respect from an empowerment perspective
Facility Management Responsibilities
- Oversee staff responsible for maintenance of Abuse Prevention Center and grounds
- Oversee inventory control for all shelter supplies and equipment
- Serve on-call for maintenance, shelter emergencies, and Shelter Aide call-outs
- Food and supply shopping for shelter
- Maintain agency vehicle
General Duties
- Answer crisis line and make appropriate referrals for services needed
- Provide crisis intervention, advocacy, emotional support, information, referral, and follow up services to victims of rape, sexual assault and domestic violence
- Respond to program participants in an empathetic, informative, non-judgmental manner
- Document calls in database
- Maintain client confidentiality
- Attend scheduled staff meetings
- Other duties assigned by Supervisor or Executive Director
Requirements:
- Valid NC driver license
- Associate’s degree or higher
- Experience supervising staff
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and overnights when needed
- Because this position may require overnight work at a women's shelter we can only consider female applicants.
Skills and Experience
- Office Management experience/Office Management Certificate
- Customer Service
- Facility Management
- Strong management skills. Preference given to applicants with proven experience supervising staff in social service or shelter settings.
- Solid administrative experience including record-keeping, reporting, scheduling, supply management, and compliance adherence.
