Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a Department Administrator position in it's Steel Producing Division located at the Burns Harbor, Indiana Plant.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Act as a liaison between Steel, Human Resources, Labor Relations, & Payroll departments in matters concerning employees, payroll, & special projects.
- Process & oversee hourly & salaried payroll in conjunction with hourly clerical technicians: review & approve payments; investigate & correct discrepancies; coach & support hourly clerical timekeepers; audit, track, & report attendance, overtime, & vacation usage.
- Train hourly clerical staff & fill-in for vacancies as needed
- Coordinate & document intra/interdepartmental personnel changes (demotions, promotions, transfers, etc.).
- Keep track of internal and plant wide bids
- Submit & track IT access, equipment, & service requests
- Order non-operating supplies.
- Responsible for the administration, posting, communication and coordination of company and department policies.
- Assist and support various area managers.
- Process monthly reports such as layered audits and safety observations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma.
- Administrative or executive assistant experience.
- Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint.
- Minimum of 5 years work experience
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and organizational skills, be self-motivated and detail oriented
- Must be a team player with the ability to multi-task at an advanced level
- Strong written and oral communication skills, a professional demeanor and presentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree
- Knowledge of HR and LR policies
- Office experience within an industrial unionized environment
