SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise and guard all swimming activities while in or around the pool at Clayton Adventure Camp. To teach floating and basic
mechanics and work to help campers feel comfortable and safe in the water.
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Responsible for preventing, identifying and responding to accidents/incidents.
- Responsible for ensuring the safety of all swimmers while enforcing pool policies, rules, and regulations.
- Administers and responds to emergencies and administer care.
- Maintains active surveillance of the waterfront area.
- Performs general maintenance in and around the waterfront area.
- Assist Camp Coordinator/Staff with any pool related responsibilities as needed included but not limited to camper swim assessments.
- Follow all policies and procedures while guarding all swimmers and patrons.
- Follow all health, safety and regulatory compliance rules and requirements.
- Communicate to Camp Coordinator and Assistant Camp Coordinator any supply needs.
- Attend all assigned training and in-service sessions.
- Lifeguard, CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen certification.
- Exceptional swimming skills and understanding of the fundamental swimming strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly).
- Demonstrate swimming ability.
- Maintain positive relationships with campers and other camp staff.
- Prepare and provide reports as required.
- Reports all accidents and incidents and any suspected or known child abuse, neglect or endangerment to authorities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to work flexible schedules when necessary.
- Complete 30 hours of paid training/professional development, occasionally out of the area
- Remain alert with no lapses of consciousness.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk
- Risk of exposure to childhood diseases
- Attendance at fieldtrips and waterparks with various environmental conditions, heat and weather

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School diploma or GED.
- At least six months of experience working with children or in a childcare setting preferred.
