Clayton Services is searching for a Purchasing Specialist to join a growing company in Houston. The Purchasing Specialist will be responsible for managing vendor relationships, sourcing materials, and ensuring timely procurement to support ongoing operations.
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $28.00-$31.25/hour

- Purchasing Specialist Responsibilities:Source and procure materials, components, and supplies to support production and operational needs
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure competitive pricing and reliable delivery
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times with suppliers
- Create and manage purchase orders while ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to avoid shortages or overstock
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand material requirements and project timelines
- Review purchase requests and confirm alignment with specifications and operational needs
- Track orders, resolve discrepancies, and address shipping or invoicing issues
- Maintain accurate vendor records and purchasing documentation
- Assist with reviewing vendor statements and resolving account discrepancies
- Other duties as assigned
- Purchasing Specialist Skills and Abilities:Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable terms
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication skills for working with vendors and internal teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Purchasing Specialist Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience required
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred
