Clayton Services is searching for a Process Control Engineer to join a thriving company in Houston, Texas.

Process Control Engineer Responsibilities:
- Design, evaluate, and optimize chemical processes used in petrochemical production.
- Monitor plant performance and analyze process data to improve yields, reduce waste, and enhance energy efficiency.
- Troubleshoot process issues and lead root cause analysis with cross-functional teams.
- Lead or support process hazard analysis (PHA), HAZOP studies, and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, electrical, safety, and environmental teams to ensure process integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and update process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provide technical support during plant startups, shutdowns, and turnarounds.
- Recommend and implement technology upgrades and process modifications.
- Assist with the commissioning and validation of new equipment and control systems.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety and environmental regulations.
- Perform process simulation in AspenPlus, HYSYS, or similar software tools.
- Oversee or support DCS, PLC, and SCADA programming, integration, and optimization.
- Other duties as assigned.
Process Control Engineer Skills and Abilities:
- Must have strong controls experience, including DCS, PLC, SCADA systems, and programming.
- Familiarity with field instrumentation and HSIS is required.
- Working knowledge of industry codes and standards (API, ASME, NFPA).
- Demonstrated experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of petrochemical unit operations such as distillation, cracking, reforming, and heat exchange.
Process Control Engineer Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Prior experience as a Process Controls Engineer or in a similar process engineering role within the petrochemical industry.
- Experience with process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, CHEMCAD, PRO/II).
- Experience with Pipe Flow Software, Inventor, and AutoCAD.
