Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmission across designated routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques, forklifts, or specialized equipment as required, ensuring cargo integrity and safety.
- Manage various types of cargo including materials, following all hazardous materials regulations.
- Utilize GPS navigation systems to follow optimized routes, monitor delivery schedules, and adapt to traffic or route changes proactively.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure mechanical safety and compliance with safety standards.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and cargo documentation in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and clients to coordinate pickups and deliveries efficiently.
Requirements
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record; experience operating tractor-trailers preferred.
- Proficiency in driving manual transmission trucks; experience with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tanks, or dump trucks is a plus.
- Knowledge of logistics cargo handling procedures including load & unload operations and dangerous goods regulations.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time tracking.
- Ability to handle hazardous materials safely in compliance with hazardous materials regulations.
- Prior delivery driver experience demonstrating reliability and punctuality in route driving roles.
- Physical ability to perform manual handling tasks such as lifting heavy cargo or operating forklifts when necessary.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) safety standards.
