Job Description
Leadership & Supervision
- Lead and supervise welders and fitters during the night shift.
- Assign daily work activities and provide clear direction to crew members.
- Monitor productivity and ensure projects stay on schedule.
- Train, mentor, and support team members to improve performance and craftsmanship.
- Maintain discipline, accountability, and professional conduct across the shift.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for night-shift production activities.
- Perform hands-on welding and fitting duties as needed.
- Fabricate and assemble shipyard modules and structural components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and production specifications.
- Ensure modules are assembled according to design requirements and sequence.
- Troubleshoot fit-up and fabrication issues and provide solutions in the field.
- Inspect welds, fit-ups, and completed work for accuracy and compliance with specifications.
- Verify that work meets company and customer quality standards.
- Identify deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are completed promptly.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship throughout all phases of production.
- Promote and enforce all safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct work safely and ensure crew members follow established safety practices.
- Report incidents, hazards, and equipment concerns immediately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and productive work environment.
Required
- Extensive experience in welding, fitting, and structural fabrication.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols.
- Strong understanding of module assembly and construction processes.
- Previous experience leading, directing, or supervising production crews.
- Ability to perform quality inspections and identify workmanship issues.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Dependable, trustworthy, and capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Commitment to safety, accountability, and professionalism.
- Shipyard, marine, or heavy industrial fabrication experience.
- Supervisory experience leading welding and fitting crews.
- Multiple welding process certifications or proven welding qualifications.
- Ability to work in a shipyard and industrial environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and lift materials as required.
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
