Our client, a leading global wealth management firm, is seeking a Senior Manager, Global Payroll to oversee multi-country payroll operations and lead a high-performing payroll function. This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic and hands-on payroll leader who thrives in fast-paced, complex environments and has experience managing payroll operations within growing organizations, including M&A activity. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in payroll compliance, Workday HRIS, vendor management, and operational leadership while partnering cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Compliance, and executive stakeholders.
Location: Hybrid (3-4 days/week onsite)
Hours: Full-Time
Compensation: ~130-140k
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee global payroll operations across multiple regions including the US, Canada, Caribbean, and Hong Kong
- Manage and mentor a team of payroll professionals while overseeing outsourced payroll vendors
- Ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing for salaried and hourly employees
- Supervise semi-monthly payroll operations within Workday and ADP
- Serve as the payroll lead for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, including onboarding and offboarding payroll operations
- Partner with HR, Finance, Compliance, and external auditors to support payroll audits and regulatory requirements
- Oversee year-end payroll activities including tax documentation, reconciliations, and compliance reporting
- Support payroll accounting activities and partner with Finance to reconcile payroll accounts to the general ledger
- Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and operational efficiencies across payroll delivery
- Provide subject matter expertise on payroll legislation, tax regulations, and compliance matters
- Manage escalated payroll issues and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve complex matters
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, payroll regulations, and global data privacy standards
Ideal Background:
- 8 years of progressive payroll and operations experience within mid-size or large organizations
- Strong experience managing end-to-end US payroll operations across multiple states
- Experience supporting Canadian payroll operations and international payroll oversight preferred
- Deep expertise with Workday HRIS and ADP payroll systems
- Strong understanding of payroll tax, compliance, audits, and employment legislation
- Proven experience leading teams and managing vendor relationships
- Experience supporting payroll functions during mergers and acquisitions preferred
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment
