Controller – Manufacturing | Path to CFO

About the Role
A leading national manufacturer is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller with a strong manufacturing background to oversee financial operations across a multi-site organization with 1,500 employees. This is a high-impact role offering a clear pathway to CFO for the right candidate.
You will be a strategic partner to the executive team, driving cost analysis, cash flow planning, FP&A, and quarterly reporting in support of operational excellence and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
**Financial Operations & Reporting**
- Lead all aspects of financial operations, including preparation and analysis of quarterly and annual financial reports
- Ensure timely, accurate reporting in line with GAAP and regulatory requirements
- Oversee FP&A, variance analysis, risk assessment, and strategic planning
**Manufacturing & Cost Analysis**
- Conduct deep cost analysis to uncover savings and efficiency improvements
- Develop and maintain manufacturing-specific cost accounting systems, ensuring accurate tracking of production costs and inventory
- Partner with operations to optimize labor, materials, and overhead costs
**Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Flow Planning**
- Lead the annual budgeting process across departments
- Build forecasts to support long-term strategic decisions
- Manage cash flow planning to support financial stability and growth
**Internal Controls & Compliance**
- Design and implement strong internal controls
- Partner with external auditors and tax advisors
**Leadership & Collaboration**
- Provide strategic financial insights to the executive team
- Lead and mentor the finance team
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, sales, and other departments
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required
- 10 years in financial leadership roles, with strong manufacturing experience
- Proven expertise in cost accounting, FP&A, cash flow planning, and budgeting in a manufacturing setting
- Advanced knowledge of financial reporting tools, ERP systems, and Excel
- Exceptional analytical skills with a proactive, detail-oriented approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
