COMPENSATION
Annual Pay Range: $45,588.12752 - $57,374.20416
Hourly Pay Range: $21.917369 - $27.583752
Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.
JOB DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS
The Clackamas County Health Centers Division – Dental Health Clinics is seeking a highly motivated and versatile individual to join our team as a Dental Sterilization Technician at our Beavercreek Clinic. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting dental assistants and providers by ensuring a sterile and aseptic environment within our clinics. Your key responsibilities will include sterilizing dental instruments and trays, managing inventory control, conducting environmental maintenance checks, and assisting in the preparation of operatories. Additionally, you will assist with scheduling appointments, making confirmation calls, and ensuring adequate supplies and inventory. You will also support patient outreach efforts to promote the dental program and assist with care coordination. The Clackamas Health Centers Division, part of the Department of Health, Housing, and Human Services, operates as a Federally Qualified Health Center, providing comprehensive preventive and restorative dental care to qualified individuals of all ages, even before the first tooth. Our team is composed of skilled professionals dedicated to delivering exceptional care to our community.
Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*
- Licenses/Certifications (required at the time of hire): Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate.
- Successful completion of the Infection Control Exam within two months of hire following on-the-job training.
- OSHA compliant uniform attire (Dental scrubs).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office(Excel, Word, Outlook).
Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*
- Experience and training in Dental Sterilization that demonstrates the required knowledge and skills.
- Experience working in a dental clinic environment.
- Basic knowledge of sterilization and infection control equipment and practices.
- Completion of a Dental/Medical Sterile Processing Technician Certification or Program.

- Must pass post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
- Must pass a criminal history check which may include national or state fingerprint records check.

TYPICAL TASKS
Sterile Processing & Instrument Reprocessing
- Decontaminate, clean, assemble, wrap, sterilize, and distribute dental instruments, trays, and clinical supplies in accordance with infection control standards and standard precautions.
- Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, ensuring proper cycle parameters are met and documented.
- Perform and document biological and chemical indicator testing to verify sterilization effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
- Inspect instruments and equipment for cleanliness, function, and safety; remove defective items from service and report maintenance needs.
Equipment Monitoring & Maintenance
- Conduct routine testing, preventive maintenance checks, and basic servicing of sterilization equipment.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and report equipment malfunctions to appropriate staff or vendors.
- Maintain sterilization logs, maintenance records, and compliance documentation.
- Support waterline maintenance, testing, and shocking procedures to ensure clinical safety standards are met.
Inventory Management & Clinical Support
- Maintain, organize, label, and restock instruments, supplies, and equipment to ensure readiness for daily clinic operations.
- Monitor supply levels within sterile processing, operatories, and storage areas; assist with ordering and distribution of materials.
- Prepare and turnover operatories in accordance with infection control and clinic protocols.
- Support efficient clinical workflow by ensuring timely availability of sterile instruments and materials.
- Contribute to clinic workflow efficiency and timely patient care.
Patient Access & Administrative Support
- Answer and screen back office phone calls for late arrivals and walk ins.
- Schedule patients with dental providers based on treatment urgency and program guidelines; conduct reminder calls as needed.
- Support patient outreach, care coordination, and program services to enhance access and continuity of care.
WORK SCHEDULE
This position works 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Friday. The days and hours for the position are Monday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday from 8am – 5pm and Tuesdays from 10am – 7pm.
Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended. This position is designated as on-site/in-person. It is expected that the selected candidate will perform duties at the specified on-site work location.
