Job Title: Cost Control & Innovation Coordinator
Position Summary
The Cost Control & Innovation Coordinator is responsible for monitoring costs on the company’s projects, improving operational efficiencies, and supporting & managing technology initiatives. This role works closely with project managers, accounting, field personnel, IT and executive leadership to ensure accurate cost tracking while identifying opportunities to improve processes, reduce expenses, and implement innovative solutions.
In addition, this position serves as the primary administrator for the company's mobile devices and provides low level technical support for employees.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Control
- Monitor project budgets, job costs, and production reports.
- Work with the project management team to review job cost reports and identify cost overruns or discrepancies.
- Assist project managers with budget forecasting and cost analysis as necessary.
- Prepare regular cost reports, dashboards & performance metrics for leadership, highlighting risk areas and opportunities for cost recovery.
- Supports estimating and accounting departments with historical cost data and analysis.
- Recommend cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows and increase operational efficiency.
- Research and recommend emerging construction technologies & software that can improve efficiency.
- Coordinate special projects that support company growth and innovation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Technology & Mobile Device Management- Manage the company's mobile phone and tablet program.
- Work with the IT department to configure, deploy, and maintain employee mobile devices.
- Coordinate mobile device purchases, upgrades, replacements, and inventory.
- Troubleshoot mobile devices, applications and connectivity issues.
- Assist with company owned software implementation and user training.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent experience will be considered.
- 3 years of experience in construction cost control, project coordination, accounting, operations, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in supporting mobile devices and basic business technology systems is preferred but not required.
Skills & Competencies- Understanding of construction job costing and budgeting.
- Experience with construction management software (such as HCSS, HeavyJob, Viewpoint Vista, or similar platforms) is preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset.
Physical Requirements- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting of technology equipment up to 25 pounds.
- Occasional travel to project sites or company locations as needed.
