TITLE: Account Manager
DIVISION: Employee Benefits
POSITION SUMMARY
Manages a complex book of employee benefits clients with varied funding methods and advanced contract features. Serves as primary client contact, ensuring strong communication, accurate service delivery, and high client retention. Leads client meetings, prepares renewal and reporting materials, and provides guidance on compliance topics (ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, MPFML, 5500s, ACA). Some onsite meetings and occasional travel required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manage renewals, utilization reviews, marketing, underwriting, and new group installations.
- Advise clients on fully insured and self-funded plans.
- Prepare meeting materials, employee communications, and benefit memos.
- Resolve enrollment, billing, and service issues.
- Maintain carrier relationships and support team development.
- Document all activity in the agency management system and follow service timelines.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete required training and maintain Brokerage Builder files.
- Assist with department projects and uphold agency service standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma required; college degree preferred. Minimum 5 years of employee benefits account management.
- Massachusetts Health & Life license.
- Strong communication, organization, and client-service skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe; able to learn new applications.
- Knowledge of New England health insurance carriers preferred.
- Team-oriented, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple projects.
