Design Engineer - Mechanical (Low Voltage)
Location: Humble, TX
About the Role
We’re looking for a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer (LV) to join a collaborative team developing custom power distribution solutions used across multiple industries. In this role, you’ll take concepts from idea to production-creating, updating, and releasing mechanical drawing packages that meet customer, safety, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and update mechanical approval drawings based on project requirements and customer specifications.
- Create and release manufacturing drawings, including sheet-metal fabrication details (flat patterns and bend profiles) and mechanical BOMs.
- Ensure drawings are released on time to support production schedules.
- Support welding, fabrication, and assembly teams during manufacturing.
- Provide technical support to sales and distributor partners.
- Contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
- Stay informed on industry trends, standards, and technical advancements.
- Perform other responsibilities as needed to support project and company objectives.
- Design sheet-metal enclosures for electrical equipment in accordance with ANSI/NEMA standards (indoor and outdoor).
- Perform sizing and bracing calculations for copper busbar systems.
- Develop assemblies, weldments, and detailed sub-assemblies for low-voltage switchboards/switchgear.
- Prepare plan, elevation, section, and lifting details.
- Create door layouts and internal component arrangements from electrical BOMs.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (Inventor or similar 3D software is a plus).
- Proficient in MS Office tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in fast-paced environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Logical thinker with the ability to develop practical engineering solutions.
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across teams.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with UL standards: UL 67, UL 891, UL 1558.
- Knowledge of utility specifications such as EUSERC, COMED, WE-Energies, PSE&G is a plus.
- Physically able to move throughout the facility, stand for extended periods, and occasionally lift as required.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, plus 2–4 years of sheet-metal electrical enclosure design and fabrication experience, OR
- Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, plus 3–5 years of related experience.
