Wellness Coordinator - DCYF

We’re partnering with the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) to find a Wellness Coordinator dedicated to caring for employee well-being. In this role, you will build and run a wellness program for DCYF staff, who often work in demanding, high-stress environments. The program will cover physical, mental, and emotional health.

You will work with department managers, Human Resources, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and an employee wellness committee so the program supports the agency’s goals and the needs of its workforce. The ideal candidate communicates well, knows how to promote health in a workplace, and can make wellness part of the agency’s culture.

Pay & Job Highlights:

Pay Rate: $45.00 per hour

Location: Providence, RI

Responsibilities of the Wellness Coordinator:

• Design and run a full wellness program, including health screenings, fitness challenges, nutrition education, and stress management workshops, researching and recommending new initiatives and vendors to keep the program fresh and engaging.
• Promote wellness programs through newsletters, email campaigns, and intranet announcements, including organizing and leading events to keep staff engaged.
• Build and manage mental health initiatives such as resilience training and mindfulness sessions.
• Collect and analyze participation data and employee feedback to measure how well the program works and prepare regular reports for leadership on outcomes and return on investment that can be used to guide future improvements.
• Manage the program’s budget and resources, and make sure all initiatives follow agency policies, health regulations, and legal requirements.

Qualifications of the Wellness Coordinator:

• Experience developing, running, and evaluating employee wellness, health promotion, or well-being programs.
• Knowledge of mental health and resilience strategies, stress management practices, and resources such as Employee Assistance Programs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience creating engaging content and leading group events or workshops.
• Ability to collect and analyze program data, measure effectiveness and ROI, and present findings to leadership.
• Experience in state government, human services, public health, or another high-stress work setting is preferred.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion, Public Health, Human Resources, or a related field is also preferred; certifications such as CHES or CWWS are a plus.
