The City of Wylie Animal Services division is seeking Animal Services Officers who would carry out tasks required to enforce animal and rabies control ordinances and policies and licensing permit requirements.
Supervision is provided by the Lead Animal Services Officer.
Physical Strength Required
Very high: Exerting over 100 pounds occasionally, 50-100 pounds frequently, or 20-50 pounds constantly.

The City of Wylie Animal Services division is seeking Animal Services Officers who would carry out tasks required to enforce animal and rabies control ordinances and policies and licensing permit requirements.
Supervision is provided by the Lead Animal Services Officer.
- Patrols streets and responds to calls to pick up stray and dead animals.
- Cleans and maintains animal shelter daily in accordance to state law.
- Issues citations for violations of Animal Control laws.
- Appears in municipal court to testify regarding violations.
- Keeps all records regarding the department up to date and in accordance with all state requirements.
- Provides educational support and printed material to citizens regarding health maintenance, licensing and fee requirements.
- Understands the health necessity of euthanizing animals and must be agreeable to perform this function.
- Must be willing to be called out after hours, on holidays, etc.
- Must be able to pursue stray animals unaided.
- Performs all tasks within safety guidelines, using approved safety methods.
- Will be required to investigate nuisance complaints from citizens.
- Maintains all Animal Services equipment in constant good working order.
- Performs tasks under close supervision. Employee is expected to show independent judgment only within established guidelines, keeping the supervisor well informed of problems or issues.
- Operates a motor vehicle in carrying out the business of the department and the City.
- Performs as a responsible steward of the public trust and strives for excellence in public service, enhancing the quality of life for all.
- Acts in a civil, respectful manner at all times to management, co-workers and others.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
