Library Services Specialist II - Part Time (20 hrs. per week) duties include but are not limited to:
Applying a broad knowledge of customer service, library operations, services, and materials.
Providing information, reference assistance, and circulation services to library customers and promoting the library’s collection and services through tours and other activities.
Answering customer inquiries in person, virtually, and via the telephone.
Assisting with making collection recommendations and performs collection maintenance using reports.
Performing circulation functions, including account maintenance, issuing library cards, handling cash, checking library materials in and out, managing holds and interlibrary loan requests, and processing incomplete or damaged items.
Interpreting, explaining, and applying library policies and procedures to respond to customer concerns.
Facilitating library customers’ requests for information.
Conduct reference interviews with customers to clarify information needs.
Developing appropriate search strategies and identifying appropriate resources to respond to customers’ requests.
Performing information searches using search engines, online databases, the library catalog, and print resources.
Assisting and instructing customers in the use of library technology, personal mobile devices and laptops, library digital services, applications, software, and emails.
Shelving library materials accurately and in a timely manner.
Planning and preparing exhibits and displays, leading tours, and participating in outreach that increases community awareness of library services and resources. Assisting with planning and presenting library programs.
Collecting and inputting data that will measure the impact of library services.
Participating in departmental strategic teams to develop system policies and procedures.
May supervise volunteers, serving as a Volunteer Resource Manager
Performing other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on the current workloads and department needs.
