The Department of Public Utilities, Operations Division provides quality water and sanitary sewer services to Virginia Beach residents. Be a part of our diverse and dedicated workforce who provide these essential services. We are currently hiring for the position of Infrastructure Data Specialist.
Requirements for Public Utilities, Operations & Maintenance:
All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Positions within this class have been designated as Alpha I positions requiring employees to work during inclement weather, regardless of the City’s operational status. Specific requirements will be determined and communicated by the employee's supervisor based on position. This is an on-site position & requires an in-office presence.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for the entering and/or retrieving of infrastructure data related to the daily operations of the Public Utilities, Operations-Sewer Collection bureau
- Create/Update service requests and/or work orders in Infor Hansen Work Order and Asset Management application from daily reports provided by field crews
- Ability to run/interpret Crystal Reports and investigate/resolve any discrepancies
- Create/maintain spreadsheets and reports in Microsoft Excel as needed for workflow and project tracking
- Update/validate Hansen asset records as required
- Serve as the Bureau's Infor Hansen and Service Link (field dispatch software) expert and provide first-line user support and instruction, assisting users with troubleshooting and basic problem resolution
- Provide basic one-on-one user training/support to Bureau staff in Hansen, Service Link, Microsoft Office products (concentration on Outlook, Word, and Excel) and other computer software applications and hardware as needed
- Liaison with Public Utilities-Technical Services Division and Com-IT to help resolve problems with technology (iPads, computers), hardware, and software problems
- Provide recommendations for automating or stream-lining work processes
- Complete general clerical and administrative work for Bureau as needed
- A passing score of thirty (30) words per minute on a typing test will be required of all applicants under consideration for interview
