The City of Vacaville is currently recruiting to fill one (1) full-time Office Assistant I/II position. Currently we have one full-time Office Assistant I/II vacancy in our Public Works department. This recruitment will establish an Office Assistant I/II City-wide eligibility list for future full-time, part-time and limited-term vacancies in this classification that may occur over the next 12-month period.

Under general supervision the Office Assistant provides a variety of routine to complex clerical support to various City offices, which may include receptionist duties, typing, word processing, data entry, record keeping and filing. Please see below for sample job duties and responsibilities for the current vacancy.
- Customer service support by answering phone inquiries and assisting visitors at the front counter
- Processing invoices for the maintenance division
- Filing and mail distribution
- Assist with departmental projects and tasks as needed
Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of experience and education that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Office Assistant I
Education: The equivalent to a high school diploma.
Experience: One year of general office experience including typing, computer usage and public contact.
Office Assistant II
Education: The equivalent to a high school diploma.
Experience: Two years of work experience equivalent to an Office Assistant I in the City of Vacaville.
Some other desirable knowledge, skills and abilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to be well organized
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Prior experience using Excel and Word
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships
