MONTHLY SALARY: $4,615.43 - $5,610.09 (Five Steps)
HOURLY SLARY: $26.63 – $32.37 (Five Steps)

DEFINITION/PURPOSE:
We are currently recruiting to fill vacant Office Assistant II positions in our Housing Choice Voucher Department. Ideal candidate has a strong customer-service focus and the capacity to successfully work as a team member delivering accurate and timely services to a diverse group of customers that typically include low-income housing voucher participants and/or voucher applicants, current and potential landlords, voucher holders and personnel from other Housing Authorities, staff from myriad governmental agencies, vendors as well as Housing Authority colleagues.
Ideal candidates’ qualifying backgrounds will include the following experience and abilities:
- Demonstrate excellent rapport at all times with our customers and team members.
- Strong ability to communicate clearly in English, both orally and in writing, demonstrating excellent spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Communicate clearly and effectively the Housing Authority rules and regulations to diverse clients.
- Prepare and maintain accurate, concise records, files, and reports in a timely manner.
- Accurately perform simple mathematical calculations.
- Proficient use of Microsoft software such as Excel, Word and Outlook email is essential.
- Ability to speak and understand Spanish and/or other languages used in Contra Costa County is desirable.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of experience and education that would be likely to provide the required knowledge and abilities could be qualifying, as determined by the Authority. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience:
Two (2) years of full-time office clerical experience requiring extensive contact serving clients from different socio-economic backgrounds.
For Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher Departments: One (1) year of experience in an organization serving moderate to low income members of the public, preferably in social services eligibility or in other local non-profit/government, state or federal agencies is preferable. In lieu of social service experience, one (1) year of experience in an affordable housing environment performing waitlist administrative support is desirable.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited high school, or possession of an equivalent certificate or diploma recognized by the State of California (e.g. G.E.D.). Possession of an Associate Degree, or two full academic years of training, from an accredited college or university with a major in business administration, social sciences, or related field is desirable.
