VACAVILLE POLICE OFFICER SALARY STEPS:
Police Officer – Academy Graduate $107,078/year*
*Includes 5.38% holiday pay and a $1,800 uniform allowance.
Police Officer Salary (upon completion of FTO) $122,236 - $175,178/year*
*Minimum includes 5.38% holiday pay and a $1,800 uniform allowance. Maximum includes uniform allowance, holiday pay, BA degree pay, Senior Officer III pay and bilingual pay.

A) YOU ARE CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN A CALIFORNIA P.O.S.T.-APPROVED POLICE ACADEMY AND ARE EXPECTED TO GRADUATE NO LATER THAN JUNE 2026; ORB) YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY GRADUATED FROM A CALIFORNIA P.O.S.T.-APPROVED POLICE ACADEMY WITHIN THE LAST 3 YEARS; OR
C) YOU ARE CURRENTLY EMPLOYED IN A SWORN CAPACITY WITH A CALIFORNIA LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY BUT HAVE NOT YET COMPLETED PROBATION.

The City of Vacaville is recruiting motivated and qualified candidates to serve as Vacaville Police Officers.

Upon completion of our FTO program, Police Officers will patrol assigned areas of the City, investigate crimes against persons or property, make arrests and enforce traffic laws. Officers will also prepare detailed police reports, testify in court and perform other law enforcement duties to protect the community.

Education: Successful completion of the Police Academy is required. An A.A./A.S. degree is desirable. Military service and relevant training may also be considered.
Experience: Some public contact work experience is required. Community organization or law enforcement experience is desirable.
License or Certificate:
Successful completion of a California Basic Law Enforcement Academy (dated within the preceding three (3) years) or P.O.S.T. recertification course (dated within the preceding three (3) years) is required at the time of application. Note: Candidates currently enrolled in a California Basic Law Enforcement Academy, with an expected graduation no later than June 2026, are eligible to apply. Submittal of documentation is required. Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and a satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment.
Other: Police Officer candidates must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age at the time of appointment; must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law; must be able to successfully complete a thorough background investigation and successfully meet the job dimension criteria as recommended by P.O.S.T.
Spanish bilingual skills are highly desirable.
