Public Works Team!
The Departments
The Public Works Department is made up of over 200 employees who provide service to our residents, businesses, and other City departments to improve and maintain the City's parks and recreational facilities, streets, sidewalks, landscaping, traffic, sewers, and water system. The Public Works Department occasionally has vacancies in the following divisions: Traffic, Concrete, Street Operations (Street Maintenance), Streetscape, and Sanitation. Vacancies may not be available in all divisions at the same time.
The Position
Description
Maintenance Workers are entry-level positions assigned to work in various assignments throughout the City. There are currently vacancies in Public Works divisions. Descriptions of all assignments are listed below:

Maintenance Workers must be available for emergency call out outside normal work hours.

Applicants must be able to read and follow directions to safely use of a variety of tools, materials, and equipment. In addition, employees must be available to work a variety of shifts and hours, as required by job assignment.
Successful Candidates Will Possess The Following
Applicants are required to possess and maintain a valid California class C driver license or higher. Many positions (Concrete, Sanitation, Street Maintenance, Streetscape) require a Class A or B license be obtained prior to the completion of the probationary period.

- Concrete: Assists with the construction and/or repair of City curbs, gutters, sidewalks and other concrete structures.
- Sanitation: Assists with refuse collection; large item pick up and illegal dump collection; builds and repairs refuse carts and bins; repair and maintain equipment; and serves as relief operator on refuse trucks or motor sweepers.
- Street Maintenance: Assists with construction work and safely operates a variety of tools and equipment to repair City streets.
- Streetscape: Assists in the maintenance, and replacement of trees and grounds, and the basic repair of irrigation systems located on City parkways and medians.
- Traffic and Lighting: Assists in the maintenance, replacement and/or repair of traffic signals; traffic signs and street markings.
HOURS
Maintenance Workers must be available for emergency call out outside normal work hours.
