Position Overview
Under the direction of the HR Director, the Assistant HR Director plays a key leadership role in supporting and advancing the City’s human resources initiatives. This position is ideal for someone who takes initiative, embraces strategic projects, and has a proven ability to implement programs that enhance organizational effectiveness and employee engagement.
Examples of Duties- Assist in planning, organizing, and directing all HR functions including recruitment, employee relations, benefits, payroll oversight, and compliance
- Lead and support HR projects and initiatives, including system improvements, policy updates, and process enhancements
- Drive positive culture change through employee engagement programs, training, and leadership support
- Analyze HR data and trends to recommend strategic improvements
- Support performance management processes and organizational development efforts
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Act as a trusted advisor to leadership and staff on HR-related matters
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Administration, Organizational Development, Business or Public Administration or related discipline.
- Six years of progressive human resource management or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Experience in Payroll is preferred
- Experience in municipal government is preferred.
