Role Description
The City of St. Petersburg is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Equipment Mechanic I or II. This is a full-time, on-site position based in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Equipment Mechanic will perform routine maintenance, preventive maintenance, and repair of various types of vehicles and heavy equipment. Daily responsibilities include troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical issues, conducting necessary repairs, and ensuring that all equipment is safe and operational. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment to support city operations efficiently.
Qualifications
- Skilled in Maintenance, Preventive Maintenance, and Maintenance & Repair of various equipment
- Proficiency in working with Heavy Equipment and understanding its upkeep
- Strong Troubleshooting skills to identify and address mechanical issues effectively
- Experience in adhering to safety standards and ensuring equipment compliance
- Ability to work on-site in St. Petersburg, FL
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Prior experience as an equipment mechanic or similar role is preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; certification in automotive or heavy equipment repair is a plus
