What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Service Representative (Street Outreach) position at City of St. Petersburg?
This is grant-funded, skilled community outreach work identifying unsheltered homeless neighbors through direct street outreach activities. Work includes identifying highly vulnerable neighbors experiencing homelessness; administering assessment tools to determine needs; facilitating placement into emergency shelter and short-term residential housing; and connecting highly vulnerable neighbors to other social services and resources. Work also includes attending meetings with residents, City staff, and other agencies to coordinate services and resolve issues. This position may be assigned to work a schedule that includes nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Salary: $58,046 - $91,369

To Qualify
Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
- Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Possess and continue to maintain a valid Driver License.
- Be able to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with employees, community groups and organizations, and the public.
- Be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
- Have some knowledge, understanding, and/or experience with individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Be able to prepare and accurately maintain moderately complex records, reports, and case files.
- Be able to competently use a personal computer to write reports, enter data, and conduct research.
- Be able and willing to work a schedule that includes nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, you must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.
Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
- Possess a valid Bachelor’s degree with major course work in public administration, business administration, communication, or a related field.
- Are highly competent in the use of computers for word processing, email, and database activities, and are familiar with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Are able to exercise good judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting departmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
