The Facilities Groundskeeper is responsible for the upkeep, care, and maintenance of the Palmer Municipal Golf Course. This is a seasonal position that supports the Facilities Grounds Maintenance Foreman in carrying out daily operations. Work is typically performed manually or with the use of various tools and equipment. Duties vary depending on operational needs; however, most tasks are routine in nature and are completed according to established standards and guidelines. Assignments that fall outside of normal routines are provided through verbal or written instructions.
Distinguishing Characteristics
The Facilities Groundskeeper is expected to safely operate a variety of light to moderate equipment, perform manual labor in varying weather conditions, and maintain the aesthetic and functional quality of the golf course.

Essential Functions & Duties
- Maintains golf course by mowing, trimming, top dressing, treating turf, maintenance of bunkers, hole changing, hedge trimming and general maintenance.
- Operate golf course equipment.
- Mows greens, tees, aprons and approaches to greens, roughs, and other areas of the golf course.
- Responsible for the care and maintenance of tools and equipment, and the safe operation of vehicles, tools and equipment.
- Performs general cleanup of grounds by removing rocks, brush, debris and other materials; collects and disposes of litter and empties trash receptacles as needed.
- Responsible for safe work practices and the use of personal protection equipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Valid Alaska State Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
- Availability to work varying hours, including evenings and weekends as assigned.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Knowledge of the golf game preferred.
- Experience with point-of-sale systems and till reconciliation.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Customer service and retail experience preferred.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team toward common goals.
