Join our team as a Lead Equipment Operator in the Public Works Street Department. The City relies on the hard work of our employees to perform skilled work in the operation of large and heavy equipment in the maintenance of streets and City properties.
An ideal candidate would be able to:
- Operate heavy equipment such as front-end loaders, excavators, skid-steers, motor graders, track loaders, street sweepers and other equipment within the public works functions.
- Proficiently drive and operate dump trucks with or without trailer.
- Work a rotating on-call schedule
- Perform manual labor pertaining to asphalt, concrete, and stormwater construction.
- Assist crew leaders and operation manager with the daily functions of running construction crews
. * Work with a diverse team to solve problems related to the city’s infrastructure
. * Work on jobs that will directly impact daily lives of the citizens of Salisbury
. * Assist with seasonal public works operations such as snow and ice removal, leaf collection, and large-scale storm clean-up efforts. Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3 Years of heavy equipment operating experience
- Must have a valid NC Driver’s License, Class A CDL required
- Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work after normal business hours in on-call and emergency situations.

Salary range: $20.91 - $29.90 (Depending on Experience)
$2,000.00 sign-on bonus to be paid as a lump sum after completion of successful probationary period.
