- Assist with maintenance and basic repairs on gas and diesel vehicles and equipment
- Safely operate tools and machinery under supervision
- Support welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks
- Help diagnose drivability and electrical issues
- Keep accurate records of all work performed

Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on engines, electrical systems, brakes, transmissions, hydraulics, and air systems
- Lead and mentor fleet mechanics
- Operate welding, cutting, and fabrication equipment
- Troubleshoot complex drivability and electronic issues
- Maintain detailed repair records and ensure safety compliance

Minimum Requirements (for Both Positions):
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in vehicle repair and maintenance, or completion of technical training in vehicle and equipment repair
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License with ability to obtain (CDL) with passenger and tanker endorsements, and a good driving record
- Ability to obtain ASE, Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT), and State Inspection certifications
- Self-motivated with strong leadership skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively Additional Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with Class 1 through Class 8 vehicles, fire apparatus, or construction equipment.
- Advanced knowledge of drivability and diagnostic systems.
- Welding and fabrication experience are a plus.
