What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Maintenance Worker (Painter) - Limited Term position at City of Redlands?
This is a limited-term position expected to last up to 15 months.
- Prepares, primes, and paints interior and exterior surfaces of City facilities, equipment, and structures, using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
- Performs surface preparation including sanding, patching, caulking, taping, masking, and minor drywall or plaster repair prior to painting.
- Selects and applies appropriate coatings based on surface material, location, and durability requirements.
- Erects and safely uses ladders, scaffolding, and lifts to access elevated work areas.
- Cleans and maintains brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other painting tools and equipment.
- Maintains painting inventory; orders and stores paints, solvents, and supplies in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Performs preventive maintenance painting schedules to preserve facilities and extend asset life.
- Assists with graffiti abatement, including matching finishes to restore surfaces.
- Provides estimates of time, materials, and equipment needed for painting projects.
- Maintains work records, logs, and reports of completed painting assignments.
- Performs other related building maintenance tasks as assigned, but with primary responsibility for painting and surface finishing work.
Experience:
- Two years of skilled experience performing duties in building maintenance.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Licenses and Certificates:
- Possession and maintenance of a valid California driver's license at the time of appointment.
