Job Summary:
The Election Assistant is an administrative job within the City Clerk’s office, working closely with the Election Administrator to ensure compliance with all local, State and Federal election laws. This highly detailed role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently. Additional duties include issuing vital records, dog licenses, and hunting and fishing licenses as needed. Candidates must be available for mandatory overtime during petition verifications and election cycles, including Election Day.
Key Responsibilities:

Maintaining Voter Registration records
-
Registering voters
-
Processing absentee ballot requests, online, mail in, and in person
- Verifying petition signatures for all State and local candidates and questions
- Answering a high volume of phone calls
- Performs other related duties as required
Required Skills & Experience:
-
Prior Municipal experience, specifically elections
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Must be detail oriented, organized and have the ability to juggle multiple tasks at once

Knowledge of cash processing procedures including daily cash transactions
- Must become a Notary Public within 90 days
Preferred Skills & Experience:

Prior Municipal experience, specifically elections

Experience in a fast-paced environment, multi-task office environment

Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality when dealing with confidential records
- Prior experience working with a diverse population

Salary & Benefits:
This is a Union position, CEBA Grade 11, Pay range starting at $23.39/hour.
