The City of Plano is investing in next-generation cybersecurity, and we’re seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer who wants to go beyond maintaining tools and instead design, build, and evolve security across the enterprise.

- Enhance network security posture, including segmentation and secure access strategies
- Improve email and collaboration security to defend against evolving threats
- Develop and implement data protection strategies (classification, encryption, loss prevention)
- Advance Identity & Access Management (IAM) capabilities (MFA, SSO, least privilege, privileged access)
- Partner across IT and business teams to embed security-by-design into systems and projects
- Contribute to incident response, threat mitigation, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Knowledge of AI frameworks and security guardrails.
- Strong hands-on experience across:
- Network security and firewalls
- Secure access / SSE / SASE architectures
- Endpoint security and threat detection
- Email security
- Data protection and governance
- Identity & Access Management (IAM)
- Experience working in cloud and hybrid environments
- Solid understanding of frameworks such as NIST and Zero Trust principles
- An owner and builder mindset- someone who wants to design, improve, and modernize, not just maintain
- Experience implementing modern security architectures at scale
- Exposure to automation, scripting, or security orchestration
- Experience in public sector or regulated environments
- Knowledge of Governance Risk Compliance, frameworks such as NIST CSF2.0, 800-53
