Rate And Compensation

The successful candidate may be offered a position in either the Chemical Application Technician I or the Chemical Application Technician II classification.

The target hourly rate for the Chemical Application Technician I is between $19.75 - $23.70; depending on qualifications

The target hourly rate for the Chemical Application Technician II is between $20.74 - $24.89; depending on qualifications

Job Details

Do you enjoy working outdoors, operating specialized equipment, and helping maintain beautiful parks, athletic fields, and public spaces? The City of Plano is looking for a dedicated Chemical Application Technician I or II to join our Parks and Recreation team!

In this hands-on role, you’ll help protect and maintain City landscapes, parks, athletic sites, medians, and public facilities through safe and effective chemical application practices. If you have an eye for detail, a strong commitment to safety, and take pride in keeping outdoor spaces healthy and thriving, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

  • Apply herbicides, fertilizers, and pesticides using specialized application equipment
  • Assist in maintaining healthy parks, athletic fields, rights-of-way, and landscaped areas throughout the City
  • Calibrate and maintain advanced application equipment
  • Follow all State and Federal safety regulations for chemical handling and application
  • Maintain accurate application and inventory records required by law
  • Support additional grounds maintenance projects as needed
  • Utilize asset management systems to document work activities

  • Knowledge of pest identification and effective control methods
  • Understanding of pesticide application techniques, mixtures, and calibration
  • Commitment to workplace and public safety
  • Ability to read and follow product labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Strong attention to detail and recordkeeping skills
  • Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic
