ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Youth and Education Office is currently seeking a highly motivated and outgoing individual who has experience working in educational programs from Birth to College and Career. There is currently one vacancy in the Youth and Education Office that will assist with the Experience Corps Tutoring Program, Family Resource Centers, and other educational programs and initiatives
While the City of Phoenix does not provide K - 12 education, its support helps students and families succeed academically. This position assists the Youth and Education Office within the City Manager's Office. The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer services skills, work well in a team atmosphere, manage projects effectively, and be willing to learn about multiple services within the city departments, school districts, and business partners.
In partnership with AARP, Experience Corps Phoenix (ECPhx) is a volunteer-based tutoring program that helps students read at grade level by third grade. The program is an ESSA-approved literacy intervention with measurable academic benefits and positive health outcomes for volunteers. This role supports ECPhx and the broader mission of the Youth and Education Office.
Youth and Education Outreach Support Coordinators lead volunteers and serve as site leaders in schools. Responsibilities include managing educational activities, ensuring program coverage, and maintaining participant safety. This position requires travel and full onsite work. Will be able to provide excellent customer service, lead volunteer outreach efforts, oversee tutoring activities, create and reconcile reports. Available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with occasional evening or weekend availability.

SALARY
Pay Range: $19.07 - $32.62 per hour.
Hiring Range: $19.07 - $20.02 per hour.

- Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
Internal Only: Please understand that this is pay grade 340. If selected, your salary offer will be based on the applicable promotion or demotion worksheet in accordance with the City Pay Ordinance.
- Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.
- Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
- Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.
- When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit.

BENEFITS
Part-time employees are eligible for earned paid sick time, city training, and free or discounted bus and light rail fares.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Two years of college and one year of related experience
- OR a bachelor's degree in teaching or a related field.
- Other combinations of experience and education which meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
- All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
- Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment must be fingerprinted and will have their fingerprints used to check the Criminal History Records of the State of Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Any records returned will be reviewed to determine the candidate's suitability for the job.
- This position requires the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage. - Experience working in educational type programs.
- Experience in some supervision and volunteer management.
- Experience providing quality customer service.
- Experience providing presentations in the community.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Experience writing reports and memos.
- Experience using word, excel, power point and publisher.
