The Phoenix Convention Center is currently looking for a dedicated professional to join their team as a Trades Helper.
Trades Helper positions are in several City departments. Duties may vary and assignments could require use of skills in one or a variety of trades. This Trades Helper position will assist the Building Maintenance Team.

Pay Range: $21.54 - $ 30.31 per hour.
Hiring Range: $21.54 - $26.18 per hour.

- Equipment maintenance
- Operating computers
- Ordering supplies
- Escorting contractors
- Drywall Repair and paint matching
- Assist Maintenance Worker (BMW)
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Knowledge of drywall repair, paint application and understanding of plumbing.
- Knowledge of reporting damage to buildings both interior and exterior to supervisor.
- Ability to perceive the full range of the color spectrum.
- Ability to adapt to a change in work duties or responsibilities.
- Ability to work alone or with staff as a team.
- Strong customer service and integrity.
- Strong commitment to innovation, efficiency, and fiscally responsible activity.
Pay Range: $21.54 - $ 30.31 per hour.

Pay Range Explanation
- Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.
- Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
- Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.
- Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
- Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.
- When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit.

Minimum Qualifications
- Two years of experience assisting a skilled trades person or performing manual work which involved the use of an acquired skill.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
- Additional Requirement may include:
- Working outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, air pollution, and dust.
- Working irregular hours, second or third shift, weekends, holidays and evenings may be required.
- Moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds will be required.
- Working for prolonged periods standing in one location, and/or walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces.
- All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Experience performing painting walls, doors and door jams, as a primary function of your job.
- Experience using common hand tools such as hammers, saws, drills, screwdrivers, wrenches, ratchets, pliers, or similar tools.
- Experience operating a forklift, front end loader, or other heavy equipment.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and working from prints, sketches, diagrams etc.
- Experience repairing drywall and texture coat.
- Experience in plumbing repair, and preventative maintenance.
- Experience with finish carpentry and /or rough framing.
- Experience repairing doors and knowledge of hardware parts.
- Experience with Microsoft office applications.
