The Municipal Security Guard's Responsibilities Include
- Patrolling and observing the activities of persons in and around City facilities.
- Providing customer service, assessing problem situations, and exercising tact and judgment in bringing about their resolution.
- Monitoring live video screens and foot patrolling the building, grounds, and parking lots to observe unusual behavior and to prevent vandalism.
- Preventing unauthorized access to restricted areas.
- Remaining at a fixed post to observe activities.
- Answering routine inquiries and directing customers to appropriate areas.
- Completing log entries and incident reports.
- Ensuring that all customers and staff have vacated the building at closing and performing a security check of all doors and windows.
- Enforcing correction of infractions through verbal warning.
- Removing customers from buildings as needed and detaining more serious offenders for proper authorities.
- Escorting personnel from the building after hours.

- Harmon Library
- Yucca Library
- Evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Shifts start around 4:00pm.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Ability to operate CCTV.
- Ability to write reports of daily activity and detailed Incident reports.
- Problem solving skills and the ability to help customers who are dealing with very difficult and emotional situations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Pay Range/Hiring Range: $20.02 - $26.83 per hour.

- Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.

Full-time employees are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package which includes:

Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Demonstrated ability to do or learn to do security, as shown by prior training and experience.
- Must operate a city vehicle and perform foot patrol outdoors over irregular terrain in a variety of weather conditions typical of the extreme desert environment.
- Working irregular hours, second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings will be required.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
- Some positions are required to be certified to use CPR, general first aid, and AED.

- All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
Experience With
- Spanish proficiency is desired though not required.
- First Aid/AED training.
- College coursework in justice studies, management, business, or another related field.
- As a Police Officer, Security Guard, or in a Military service.
- Microsoft Office.
- Providing exceptional customer service in person, over the phone, and via e-mail.
