The Fire Department Human Resources Division is seeking a Human Resources Aide to perform specialized clerical and technical duties associated with human resources transactions for over 2600 members in the Phoenix Fire Department. The main function of this job includes processing merits, performance reviews, new hires, transfers, promotions, DROPS, Retirements and separations. This position is also responsible for meeting bi-weekly payroll deadlines for sworn and non-sworn personnel, including paid and unpaid leave, overtime, shift differential, out of class, and industrial pay processing.

This is an in-office ONLY position with no telework available.
SALARY
Pay Range: $22.61 to $36.84 per hour.
Hiring Range: $22.61 to $33.41 per hour.

Other Responsibilities For The Position Include
- Maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Interacting with all levels of Fire and City personnel.
- Interpreting and explaining the Personnel Rules, Pay Ordinance, Administrative Regulations, Management Procedures, and Memoranda of Understanding for employees and management.
- Working under pressure to meet tight schedules and deadlines and handle problems and tasks that come up simultaneously or unexpectedly.
- Exercising independent initiative and judgment and establish priorities for own workload.
- Maintaining confidentiality of employee records, payroll documents and all paperwork containing personal Identifying information.
- Assisting with various training programs.
- Daily computer usage, including data entry and research.
- Maintaining personnel files, photocopying, and filing as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.
- Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
- Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.
- Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
- Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.
- When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit.

Minimum Qualifications
- Two years of college majoring in public or human resources administration, industrial relations, psychology, or a related field.
- One year of experience as a human resources or administrative clerk.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
- All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Experience with processing payroll for a large base (400 plus) in a 24-hour/7-day operation.
- Experience processing and maintaining human resources transactions.
- Customer service experience.
- Experience with data entry and 10-key operations.
- Experience processing and compiling reports.
- Experience with and ability to meet assigned deadlines.
