About This Position
The Neighborhood Services Department (NSD) is dedicated to making Phoenix a community of desirable neighborhoods and helping residents to access critical services and resources. To achieve these goals, NSD administers a number of programs that preserve, enhance, and engage communities across the City.
The Community Worker Ill position is responsible for managing the application process for Housing Rehabilitation programs, which includes but is not limited to, providing program information and eligibility criteria to residents, distributing application material, offering technical support to potential program participants who need assistance, and reviewing and approving applications online, via telephone, and in-person. To complete these tasks successfully, the Community Worker Ill accesses, maintains, and inputs data in several electronic systems including Adobe Acrobat Sign, department inboxes, call logs, and customer management databases for research, documentation, and to effectively build physical case files for Housing Rehabilitation program applicants.
The Community Worker Ill position also participates in outreach and educational activities to promote Housing Rehabilitation programs for neighborhood events, community campaigns and initiatives, and presentations for or in collaboration with internal and external programmatic partners and stakeholders. The Community Worker Ill position is a driving position.
The Community Worker Ill position works under the general supervision of the Community Outreach Supervisor and liaises with Project Managers in the Housing Rehabilitation Section, and the Seamless Service Counter staff in the Neighborhood Engagement Division.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Pay Range: $21.02 to $31.06 per hour.
Hiring Range: $21.02 to $28.17 per hour.

- Have the ability to speak and write in the Spanish language.
- Be flexible and able to quickly follow management directions on short notice.
- Have exceptional customer service skills in-person, through email, and over the phone.
Pay Range: $21.02 to $31.06 per hour.
Hiring Range: $21.02 to $28.17 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications
- Three years of progressively responsible experience in community organizing and citizen advisory committees.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
- All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Experience interacting with the public.
- Experience working in diverse communities.
- Experience providing referrals to clients/residents for services.
- Experience recording and compiling data in a customer management system.
- Experience in assisting residents with determining eligibility for program services.
- Experience working in the field with home visits, door-to-door, and/or community centers.
- Experience working with Microsoft Suites (Word, Excel, Publisher, and Power Point).
- Experience providing customer service in a fast-paced environment; esp. resolving customer inquiries, answering technical questions, and promoting services.
