What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Worker III - Street/Bridge position at City of Pasadena?
Duties: Leads works on crew to dig up and replace drainage lines and to complete assignments in the maintenance and construction of streets, sidewalks, ditches, and storm sewers. High level of manual labor required to dig, shore up and back-fill. Places pipe in trenches dug by backhoe or trencher. Adjusts culvert to insure proper grade. Assemble and disassemble barricades. Must be skilled in using hand tools. Use proper safety equipment and procedures at all times. If a safety factor exists, must decide what precautionary steps to take. Must be able to work independently; display good judgment; ability to assess situation and make appropriate determination on how to proceed. Knowledge of the operation of tools and equipment which may be used, such as gas saws, air hammer, sledge hammer, water pumps, backhoe, sharp shooter, and/or front-end loader. Must be able to properly use city radio. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy.
Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Texas Class B CDL and good driving record. PREFERRED: To obtain a Class A CDL
