SCHOOL CROSSING DUTIES:
Assists children at street crossing zones.
Directs children to crossing zones and insures traffic is stopped in order to allow children to cross the street.
Assists in maintaining a safe atmosphere for school children in and around school crossing zones.
Instructs the children on safe conduct when crossing in a school zone.
Records and reports vehicles driving recklessly and at high rates of speed.
Visually and audibly detects hazards for safety concerns.
Stands and uses both arms and hands to direct traffic for extended periods of time in various weather conditions.
Visually and audibly alert to detect traffic hazards for personal and public safety.
ATTENDANCE & PERFORMANCE:
Required to report to work at the appointed hour, as scheduled, and to work the entire assigned shift. May at times require flexibility in work hours.
NONESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs other duties as assigned.High school diploma or GED preferred.
Job requires no previous training in this area.
Periodic classes are given to enhance job knowledge and skills.
Must be able to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.

Must have the ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively and to determine the proper course of action. Ability to deal with others firmly, courteously, tactfully and with respect. Ability to follow and understand oral and written instructions.
