What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Guard - Part time position at City of North Port?
The City of North Port is seeking full -time Armed Security Professionals to protect North Port City facilities, employees, and the public. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment through visible patrols, access control, incident response, and customer service. Armed Security Officers are expected to de-escalate situations, respond to emergencies, and enforce applicable laws, ordinances, and City policies while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Provide exceptional customer service to our staff and customers by carrying out safety and security procedures, site-specific policies and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Screen customers using a walk-through metal detector and the use of a Garrett hand wand.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem solving manner.
- Proficient in CPR/AED and first aid procedures.
- Patrols inside and outside of buildings and other city properties (by walking or driving a vehicle) to ensure enforcement of city ordinance, state laws, and regulations.
- Inspects, secures, and unlocks City owned properties to regulate access and protect city facilities/properties against theft or destruction.
- Summons appropriate personnel in the event of an emergency.
- Maintains accurate records of patrol activities, documenting incidents occurring on City property.
- Monitors and answers alarms for building safety.
- Responds to walk-in inquiries pertaining to City departments or gives general information to individuals using City facilities.
- Ability to report for duty as assigned by the Security Manager during emergencies and/or natural disasters.
- Must possess mature personal discretion, sound judgment, superior problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
- Adhere to company City dress code and uniform policy and maintain professional demeanor and appearance.
- Ability to work part-time, full-time, and varied shifts.

- Knowledge of fire prevention, safety, and securityoperations.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, with all levels of employees, management, and customers in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service orientedmanner.
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees, guests, and various Citystakeholders.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communicationskills.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED
- Minimum of three (3) years of verifiable armed experience in law enforcement, military, corrections, or licensed security.
- Must remain current in Florida State security officer weapons qualifications.
- Possession of a valid Florida Class “D” and “G” license. Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and will be required prior to employment.

Salary : $39,281 - $62,850
