The Problems You’ll Solve: The Community Engagement Operations coordinator will support the operations of volunteer engagement and capacity building initiatives that support City agencies to strengthen their ability to effectively involve New Yorkers in service. Reporting to the Assistant Chief Service Officer for Community Engagement, this position will work closely with NYC Service staff and agency partners to advance citywide volunteer strategies. The primary focus areas include overseeing the NYC Service Bureau, managing the Resident Volunteer Corps, and supporting the alignment of operations across the Community Engagement team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: NYC Service Bureau Grant Support - Cultivate and manage partnerships with selected City agencies to guide the development and execution of agency-led volunteer initiatives. - Collaborate with agency partners to design and implement volunteer program plans, leveraging management tools, training, and resources to strengthen or expand volunteer management capacity. - Monitor Service Bureau agency activity, including mid-year and end-of-year reporting, and track volunteer engagement metrics and outcomes. - Produce annual progress reports highlighting volunteer impact and key performance indicators across participating City agencies. - Coordinate and facilitate regular check-ins with Service Bureau partners to review volunteer engagement, assess progress, and support ongoing planning. - Identify new opportunities for collaboration with additional City agencies or divisions to broaden the reach of Service Bureau partnerships. - Partner with the NYC Service National Service team to align Service Bureau processes with the AmeriCorps host site outreach timeline. - Collaborate with the Assistant Chief Service Officer for Community Engagement to continuously refine, strengthen, and evolve the NYC Service Bureau model. Resident Volunteer Corps (RVC) - Support the Resident Volunteer Corps program by connecting New Yorkers with meaningful volunteer opportunities across City government. - Coordinate operational processes for volunteer intake and onboarding. - Collaborate with City agencies to source and develop service projects for RVC volunteers. - Serve as the primary point of contact for RVC volunteers seeking placement and engagement opportunities. - Coordinate and facilitate ongoing orientations for incoming RVC volunteers. - Lead the planning and execution of quarterly large-scale service day projects for the RVC cohort. - Produce mid-year and end-of-year reports highlighting the impact and outcomes of RVC volunteer engagement. - Administer post-service surveys to assess volunteer satisfaction and gather impact stories that reflect program effectiveness. - Support the Assistant Chief Service Officer for Community Engagement in preparing presentations and materials that promote the RVC program. - Host regular check-ins with volunteers to gather insights, feedback, and recommendations to enhance their service experience. - Lead the development and delivery of workforce development workshops designed to support the professional growth of RVC volunteers. General NYC Service Outreach - Support with tabling and outreach events for NYC Service. This is a shared responsibility across the office for everyone to participate during the year. - Updating the NYC Service outreach tracker with any event shared by city agencies and other partners. - Presenting on all programs at NYC Service and sharing volunteer knowledge with community members. - Focused outreach on New York City neighborhoods, community events, and NYC high schools and colleges. General Administrative Support - Coordinate administrative operations to ensure seamless support for the Assistant Chief Service Officer’s priorities and workflow, including scheduling, meeting logistics, and calendar coordination to optimize time and strategic engagement. - Prepare briefing materials, agendas, talking points, and follow-up documentation for internal and external meetings. - Support tracking action items, deadlines, and team project milestones to support the timely execution of Community Engagement projects. - Facilitate communication between the Assistant Chief Service Officer and internal teams, City agency partners, and external stakeholders. - Support budget tracking, procurement processes, and grants-related administrative tasks. - Assist in planning and coordinating events and workshops across the Community Engagement team. - Monitor and manage incoming inquiries, ensuring timely responses and appropriate routing to relevant team members. - Provide logistical and operational support for special projects and high-priority initiatives directed by the Assistant Chief Service Officer. Advance NYC Service Mission, Values, and Goals - Represent NYC Service at select events. - Be available on select weekends and on select evenings for projects. - Provide project support with other service activities and programs, as needed, including emergency volunteer response. - Support City initiatives as needed, including but not limited to possible emergency response and recovery. About You: - You have a commitment to service year programs and volunteerism. - You are a self-starter with a strong work ethic and a flexible work style in a fast-paced environment. - You are capable of managing goals and working under tight deadlines. - You have strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint, Outlook (Salesforce, a plus). - You have excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and creatively. - You have excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to relate to and provide support for internal staff and external partners. - You have experience collecting and analyzing data. - You can work beyond traditional working hours and schedules, as needed. - You have prior experience conducting training is a plus. - You have experience working at NYC nonprofits and/or agencies, a plus. - You have direct volunteer coordination experience, plus. MAYORAL PROGRAM COORDINATOR (M - 06423 Minimum Qualifications 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in administration, research, management, analytical work, community work or community activities; or 2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of experience as described in "1" above; or 3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and/or experience. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience in administration, research, management, analytical work, community work or community activities. Residency Requirement New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
